During a recent hands-on preview of Diablo IV, we had the opportunity to experience the new Spiritborn class. Blizzard provided us with level 30 accounts pre-equipped with basic gear and skills, allowing for immediate gameplay. Despite the short two-hour session, I managed to get a feel for the combat mechanics.

The Spiritborn class is a fresh addition to the Diablo universe, hailing from the jungles of Namahtu as agile warriors. Their primary attribute is agility, wielding weapons such as long blades, polearms, and staves. While reminiscent of Diablo III's Monk, the Spiritborn class offers unique gameplay mechanics.
One of the standout features of the Spiritborn class is its four spirits: Eagle, Gorilla, Cheetah, and Centipede. Each spirit grants unique powers, from lightning strikes to physical barriers and poison damage.
The Eagle spirit excels in lightning attacks, with its core ability unleashing explosive feathers that return to cause secondary damage. Its ultimate ability summons a spirit eagle, dealing initial damage followed by a powerful explosion and crowd control.
The Gorilla spirit focuses on physical attacks and defense, featuring abilities that reduce damage and grant shields. Its ultimate move summons a gorilla spirit that smashes the ground, damaging enemies and providing healing to allies.
The Cheetah spirit specializes in fire-based attacks, offering rapid attacks and explosive damage effects. Its core ability involves claw attacks that ignite enemies, causing explosions. Its ultimate allows rapid attacks on nearby enemies with a chance to reset cooldowns.
The Centipede spirit utilizes toxic damage, with its core ability inflicting direct and continuous poison damage. Its ultimate ability summons a centipede spirit that spews venom and spreads poison to surrounding enemies, making it effective for both single targets and groups.
In addition to their spirits, Spiritborn players can choose two spirit specializations, enhancing their abilities with buffs such as increased damage and healing.
Overall, the Spiritborn class offers a refreshing gameplay experience in Diablo IV. While my preview was limited to early levels, the potential for diverse and explosive builds using different spirits is promising. Stay tuned for more updates on Diablo IV and its new class.
